Put bonus pieces in online puzzles. Mix them in and players would collect the bonus ones from different puzzles they solve to form a new one.

Putting together a jigsaw puzzle can be a lot of fun, but depending on the size of the puzzle it can also be very difficult. Some puzzles have hundreds or even thousands of pieces and that can be enough to scare some people away. If you're planning to start a massive one and want to see the project through to completion, here are a few tips that might help you.

First of all, take the time to study the image on the box. Focus on the image's key figures since they will serve as a "landmark" when you begin putting everything together. Don't forget the finer details either. They often give people the most trouble when they're putting the picture together. You should also take the time to separate the pieces by color. Although it doesn't work for every puzzle, you can be reasonably confident that pieces that are the same color will fit together.

When it comes time to put the pieces together, start with the edges. Those will be the easiest to recognize since they will have straight edges. You should have a nice outer border if you fit the edges together. From there, it's just a matter of working inward until you complete the puzzle.

Progressive Puzzle

The pieces remain the same, the picture changes.

The pieces for this puzzle would be capable of changing to form different scenes based on the code sent to them in an electronic initialization box. The pictures would start out simple and get progressively harder as your skills increased, going from basic scenery to Escher type prints. This would give you several puzzles for the price of one (if you found yourself in the middle of an easy one you could up the difficulty mid-game too, having it change the goal picture on the fly).
